Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

La Grande Soirée des Officiers Français, York - Jean-Jacques Delaunay

Date: 10th June 2014

After the Garden Party Ian Reed (Director of the Yorkshire Air Museum) his wife and I made our way up to Montmartre. We wanted to again listen to JJ whom Ian and I discovered in 2014 when we repaired to Montmartre after the BOB Medal Ceremony at the Ambassador’s Residence.

JJ is coming over to York on 2nd July to entertain at La Grande Soirée des Officiers Français which is being held at the De Grey Rooms – the location where the French Airmen danced 70 years ago.

JJ sings at La Cremaillère – a delightful Art Nouveau Café with beautiful murals similar to those of Mucha. There’s such a plethora of Cafés around the square at Montmartre that one is spoilt for choice but that’s where Ian and I ended up on 13th July 2012 and found JJ – so we are delighted that he is coming to York to entertain the guests.

La Cremaillère was established in 1900 so there's just a chance that, if he ever visited Montmartre from his home in St. Mandé,  René Muchotte might just have visited this very café
