Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Cis and Barbiche - 3rd July 2014

Date: 14th May 2014

At Elvington they found over two thousand letters written during the war between a French pilot and his English Sweetheart.  Although they didn't marry, Barbiche is still alive and living in Australia.  The letters were the basis of a play which opened in Perth a few months ago.  It was only a short run but proved so popular the run was extended.

The play is now coming to York for a few performances and I'll be attending a performance the  night after the Grand Soirée.  I understand that the letters have been compiled into a book and when I have more information about publication,  I'll let you know.

It is typical that one sits around doing virtually nothing for ages and then everything happens at once.  After the play I shall be making my way back down south for the BOB Veterans' Dinner and the BOB Memorial Day Celebrations.
