Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

PET TALES - Saturday Telegraph

Date: 21st January 2013

Recently a friend remarked that I should write a piece about my adorable cat Tamby and submit it to Pettales at the Saturday Telegraph.

Now that my René Mouchotte project is almost at an end, there’s a bit of a hole in my life and I must find another project to keep the grey matter alive and ticking.

So I sat down and wrote a piece and pinged it off by email with a photo. Assuming that they are inundated with Pet Tales and even if they were interested, mine might see the light of day in a few months I was surprised to hear that it might be printed in the Saturday Telegraph either this Saturday the 26th or the following Saturday. That would be very nice because the René documentary goes out on the 28th – so I’d have two causes to celebrate.

If you have a nice story to tell about your pet, why not send it to There’s no fee but it is rather fun to share with others tales of your loved companion.

Recently, to celebrate (or rather to commemorate as I'm past wanting more) my birthday I had friends round for drinks.  There were twenty of us crowded into my living room and I couldn't believe the nonchalance with which Tamby set up shop in the middle of my largest sofa and refused to budge.  I thought that amount of people would worry him but not a bit of it.

This is Tamby (short for Tamburlaine the Great).
