Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

RENÉ MOUCHOTTE - Documentary

Date: 18th December 2012

RENÉ MOUCHOTTE – Documentary

It looks highly likely that the transmission will be 14th January in the BBC South East Region Opt-out programme ‘Inside Out’.   21st Dec.   Just had an email to inform me that the Transmission date is now 28th January but it will be going out on HD which means that it can be accessed throughout the country.

Anyone in the UK will be able to watch on the iPlayer for 7 days immediately after broadcast. But they will also be able to watch as it is transmitted on Sky (channel 963), Freesat (channel 959) and Freeview (channel 858).

I do hope you enjoy the programme. It has given me enormous joy to work on it and has led to friendships along the way, not to mention becoming a Vice President of the Yorkshire Air Museum and a Patron of Souvenir Français.

So huge thanks to my subject, René Mouchotte and the Quentin Mouchotte family for all their unstinting help along the way as well as Col. Pierre Alain Antoine (who noticed the omission of the BOB Medals): Simon Vosters - Archivist at Middelkerke in Belgium: Ian Reed, Director of the Yorkshire Allied Air Forces Museum: and Janet Tootal who chose René's name from the thirteen Free French names on the Wall of Remembrance at Capel le Ferne - she could have chosen any other and there would not have been my search and this documentary.

There are many others who have encouraged and helped along the way and I give them my grateful thanks as I do wholeheartedly to Matthew Wheeler Producer of 'Searching for René' and Ben Leete the cameraman who went more than the extra mile to get good shots in a very short space of time.

A bientôt,  Jan
