Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

FRENCH ORCHID - Find

Date: 25th October 2012

At the end of our filming last week and on the way from Middelkerke to Calais, we stopped off at a French supermarket.  I hadn't intended buying anything as I'm going over to Calais again with friends next week but a 'Special offer' caught my eye - a tableful of pretty small multi-headed orchids for 8.50 Euros.  They were all the same with one exception and I decided to take a chance on it because none of the buds had opened and very often that's the way it stays with plants.

So I walked out with one of the yellow variety - Oncidium and the other which just said Orchidee (fragrant).   To my absolute delight the fragrant one has started to open its flowers and it does have the most delicate perfume.  The leaves were similar on both plants so perhaps it too is an Oncidium.  But I am absolutely delighted because I love plants with perfume and endlessly seek to find the Miltonia variety with a fragrance.
