Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

BASTILLE DAY - London

Date: 14th July 2012

Last year at the Battle of Britain Memorial Day, I was seated next to the French Air Attaché and his wife.  He has been incredibly helpful with the Medal Presentation in Paris and also managed to get me a very last minute invitation to the Bastille Day Celebrations at the French Ambassador's residence in London so it was literally from one Residence to another.

How I wish I could wave a wand and speak Fluent French - it is so frustrating because I can read and understand a great deal more than I can speak.  I've looked at many courses on line but I'm stuck in the middle - neither being a beginner nor proficient.  (A propos of absolutely nothing - Do you remember that great Steeler's Wheel number - Stuck in the Middle)

I'm not sure that I've got anyone interested in funding a documentary on René Mouchotte but I think I've been asked to be a Patron of an organisation called Souvenir Française.  So I really will have to brush up my French.
