Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 5th January 2012

My son organized a really wonderful day for me.

I was woken with Stevie Wonder singing 'Happy Birthday to you' and Jonathan with two massive bouquets of flowers - an enormous one from him and another from a friend who'd asked J to arrange it. We went out for Brunch in a local Café. Jonathan lives in Surry Hills, Sydney, and the streets are lined with Café's and Restaurants. Then we went for a long walk around Sydney.

I loved the City when I lived here in the 60's and though it has changed phenomenally, it is still very lovely. I think its appeal is because of the lovely parks, fountains and wide streets which somehow give a feeling of space despite the plethora of high rise buildings. We had a cool glass of wine in the Radisson Hotel and then came back to his flat to prepare for the evening. J had invited some friends of mine from the past - Carla Zampatti (a famous Australian Dress Designer) who introduced me all those years ago to my fiancé who was killed in a car crash, Derek and Julia Parker who I've known since the 70's and who now live out here, and then some young friends of J's whom I also know and like. We all went to a very expensive restaurant near the Bridge called the Quai. The views were sublime - the Bridge and the Opera House take a lot of beating. It was a fabulous day - although I'm not too keen on the number it was celebrating! I don't think I can upload photos from my Ipad into the Website so photos for the next month might have to be left until I get back to the UK.

My beautiul bouquets.
