Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

BERLIN - DAY 3

Date: 24th August 2011

BERLIN - Day 3

We went to visit the Allied Museum only to discover that the one day it is shut is Wednesday - so after a rethink we went to visit an old Hunting Lodge in the Grunewald. Sadly it too was closed although there’s not a great deal to see by way of furnishings.
However we had a coffee and admired the scenery and the grandeur of the way of life for the seriously rich of yesteryear.

My friends had a friend for lunch who spoke hardly any English but it didn’t matter. The longer one listens to a language the more one’s ear becomes attuned to it.

In the evening we watched a DVD - What enormous fun and I didn’t know it existed - Cage au Folles 11. I saw the Stage show ages ago and then the film but didn’t know of the existence of the sequel. It was hilarious and I only wish there were a Number 3 but there’s not and the two stars have long ago departed this world.

As I can only upload one photo per blog, decided to show you the magnificent 18th Century Walther Organ in the Mediaeval Cathedral.
