Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

PERE LACHAISE & MONTMARTRE - again

Date: 13th May 2011

PERE LACHAISE & MONTMARTRE - again

Visited Pere Lachaise again - it was a beautifully sunny day and having realised that I’d over-estimated distances in the cemetery, was determined to go back and find the ones on my list which we’d missed and I also wanted to see Rene’s tomb on a sunny day.

So we visited the last resting places  of Chopin, Bizet, Descartes, Sarah Bernhardt, and Victor Noir among others. (I’d read on the internet about Noir’s tomb which is very interesting indeed - but I’ll leave you to find out for yourselves!!)

Then we went up to Montmartre for a farewell lunch in a lovely restaurant on the edge of the square - Chez Plumeau. There was a huge knotted wisteria giving shade to the outside sitting area and a musician playing his cello. Nothing is inexpensive in Paris but the ambience, music, situation and sunshine, made the visit to this charming eaterie worthwhile
