Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 6th November 2010

I was introduced to Amanda Platell at Tory Headquarters many years ago, actually on the eve of the election before last. She was very arrogant and couldn’t be bothered with me. However I have to admit that I love her column in The Mail. She is a natural successor to Lynda Lee Potter who died in 2004.

Although Lynda had a love/hate relationship with me, I could not but admire her. When all were against me, she championed me – when they liked me, she didn’t. And she always ‘cut to the chase’. Not long before her death, she wrote a bitchy article about me. I couldn’t take it lying down and wrote a letter asking if she ever considered how much she hurt people. (We might be in the public eye, but we are human and if cut, we bleed). The next day I received an enormous bouquet of flowers from her with love – but not the word “Sorry”. I miss her.

When I had my diatribe this afternoon, I hadn’t got down to reading the Saturday Mail (told you that I buy it because it has the best Television Mag. there is, as far as I’m concerned) So I’ve only just read Amanda and she really does hit the nail on the head and prints what so many of us are thinking but are too scared to say. Free speech in this country is a thing of the past. There was a time when what one said in the comfort of one’s own home or among friends, was perfectly acceptable – not any more – you’d be worried about being reported to the ‘Thought Police’.

The Mail also had an article about the Hook-handed cleric. Just have a look at what he’s cost us in benefit and legal costs. He must be laughing up his sleeve and in the old English words ‘Cocking a Snook’ at us. Do you care that he could be Stateless? Blame it on ‘Yuman Rights’ – and the sooner Cameron tries to get us out of all this European stupidity the better.

I really must get down to some work. Bye for now, Jan
