Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Could I bring your attention to a Charity. My son is in New Zealand at the moment and they have a Charity drive to support Cancer Research. Five years ago, Jonathan had testicular cancer and please God they got it all out and that will be the end of that. He and I support ‘Orchid’ which is a specific charity for male cancers.  Two years ago, Jonathan did a Sky Dive for Orchid which raised £4000 and that pays for an awful lot of brochures to alert men to the necessity of early diagnosis.  You men really are very silly in not going for check ups.  Found early enough, many cancers are treatable.  Mind you Jonathan only went after watching a soap called Hollyoaks which dealt with Testicular Cancer.

On his Facebook page, I read the following:

I just donated to Movember. I did this because close to 3,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in New Zealand each year and one in ten men will experience depression in their lifetime. Many of these men do not seek help.

This is a cause I feel strongly about and I’m asking you to support my efforts by making a donation. To help, you can either:
• Click this link and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account
• Write a cheque payable to ‘Movember Foundation,’ and mail it to: Movember Foundation, PO Box 12708, Wellington, 6144

All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Through its men’s health partners, The New Zealand Mental Health Foundation and the Cancer Society of New Zealand, Movember is funding world class research, educational and support programs which would otherwise not be possible.

For more details on how the funds raised from previous campaigns have been used and the impact Movember is having please visit .

Please support the gentlemen of Movember. I do.

So if you felt you could help in any way, please do.

Jonathan is going to grow a moustache for the cause – This I must see!!!!!!

Bye for now, Jan
