Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 20th January 2017

Suffering the Winter Blues - how about looking at Holiday Options at the Destinations Show at Olympia.

I was delighted at the kind reception for my talk at the Telegraph Travel Show at ExCel talking about Singles Holidays and promoting http://justyouholidays

I'm speaking again at the much bigger and totally dedicated to holidays show 'Destinations' My talk is scheduled for 1.45 on Friday 3rd February.  I've got even less time so it will be a race through the highlights of Burma, India and Tuscany.  Burma and Tuscany I visited with Just You Singles Holidays and India was our venue when filming 'The Real Marigold Hotel'

And while I'm writing let me tell you that Just You Singles Holidays and Travelsphere are in the rudest of good health.  Typical of the News Announcement that the Parent Company All Leisure had gone into Receivership.  Only a small part of that huge organisation was unprofitable and sadly had to be shut down.  All Leisure had a staff of 280 and though sad, only 50 lost their jobs which does rather put the problem into perspective.  It was the cruising side of the business which was unprofitable but their small and select cruises were expensive and they were up against the big boys like P & O.

Apparently All Leisure has changed hands six times since its inception back in the 70's.  Now that G.Adventures have taken over, the future could be very rosy indeed.  G. Adventures is totally dedicated to travel and about the only gap in their portfolio was what Just You and Travelsphere offer - so it looks as though despite terrorism and brexit, the businesses will be doing as well as can be expected in a difficult climate.
