Shoreham Airshow 2007
Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Readers Questions answered

Date: 26th December 2016

I am always amused by the questions asked by readers which bring them to my Website. So I'll try to answer a few

Yes I am still very much alive - (someone asked if I were alive or dead) and am currently in Paris spending Christmas with dear friends.

No I didn't go back to India. I never intended to live there but thought it might be a possibility to rent there for three months of the English Winter. But, on reflection and in the cold light of day I realised that it could be a very lonely 3 months. After one had explored the wonderful sights which seem to be round every corner and after one's friends had come to visit, you'd be left in an 'air conditioned apartment' in a country where you didn't speak the language and what would you do with your time. It was Bobby George who thought about building a house there but he soon changed his mind when he learned that as a foreigner he would have to have an indigenous partner who owned 51 percent of the property. Many countries apply this rule and it is a shame this is not in operation in the UK - we might not then have so many properties empty and owned by rich folk from overseas who make more profit from a building than investing in other enterprises.

I live on the Kent coast I have no partner - only a little rehomed Battersea dog

My mother died of 'old age' and dementia.

I have one son who lives in Australia

I used to be 5'5" but one shrinks with age and I'm now 5'3" and only found this out when I had the medical for the India Series

The love of my life was Eric Steenson who died in August 2015

I was not in 'Only Fools and Horses' but I did have a tiny part in one of the 'Hugh and I' programmes with Hugh Lloyd and Terry Scott.

I think I've answered the main questions

Wishing you all a Healthy, Happy and Peaceful New Year
