Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 25th September 2010

Hallo Folks,

Well in my homeless state, visiting friends up and down the length and breadth of the country, I've had a great time - been to Leeds, York, the Isle of Whithorn, Tetbury, Chipping Camden, Lower Slaughter,Woolminstone and have come to rest at the home of my friend and agent Simon.  Having turned his spare room into a repository for clothes, bits and pieces, orchids and odds and ends, I've finally got my case to the required weight for  Monarch  - it's amazing how difficult it is to get the luggage down from 23 kgs to the  allowance of 20 kgs and the cabin allowance which is half that of normal airlines.

Have had some great meals along the way, both at friends' homes and in some hostelries.  Had the best Cod and Chips (usually forbidden but I lost a lot of weight with the food poisoning so allowed myself a treat) ever at a pub in Hinton St. George (can't remember the name but will fill it in when I get back and have time to phone my friends).  And last night in Kingsand had an incredibly tasty Steak and Stogs  pie at Half Way House - the lovely chef, Phil, was not prepared to give us the recipe and I don't blame him.

Anyway, having remembered at the last minute that you have to alert all your Card people that you are going away and that took half an hour, having got some currency organised (I hope) to be picked up at Gatwick, am just about ready to set off for Plymouth Airport.

Am off to Turkey to  take part in a TV programme for Channel 4.  That's all I can tell you but will let you know when it's transmitted - which may not be till next year.  I've never been to Turkey but am told it's a very beautiful country.

Can't print any pictures for you at the moment.  My Iphoto library is full (7,500 photos!!!) - bad organisation on my part  - really must delete or copy on to disc when I get back - so I daren't transfer any more off the camera as Iphoto is bouncing up and down and is obviously cross with me.

Until the next time,  Bye for now - Jan

p.s.  Forgot to tell you that the Daily Mail finally printed my Mouchotte story (slightly different from my version and with a Title which I didn't like but there you go!  It's also available on line but I haven't time to give you the link - but it was printed on Wednesday, September 15th.

pps  And a reminder that whilst I'm away I can't access my Blog on my Ipad and I'm not going to take the computer - not enough weight allowance. Back on line asap.
