Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

TELEVISION PRESENTERS

Date: 20th June 2016

Having spent 50 years ( oh my Goodness!) working in television as an interviewer, presenter, news reader, I can't help but watch television in a critical manner but sometimes people are so good you simply have to give them accolades.

Last week I watched  a Referendum debate chaired by Polly James.  Although I could sense her nervousness, she was absolutely superb and kept a noisy rabble in order with total politeness, firmness and an excellent grasp of her subject.  Had it not been for her calm delivery, I think I would have turned off because both sides were just 'slagging' each other and frankly I learned very little I didn't know already and learned very little more of any value.

Another female who deserves an accolade is Mishal Hussein who presented Britain and Europe; The Immigration Question.  She has a well modulated voice, calmness, authority and doesn't wave her arms around like windmill sails in a storm.  She was a pleasure to watch.

Well done both you ladies.
