Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

KIPLING'S INDIAN ADVENTURE

Date: 23rd February 2016

Just caught up with this BBC 2 programme on Iplayer.

What an enjoyable documentary but I was left wanting more.

And what a joy to watch a presenter, Patrick Hennessey, who wasn't frenetically waving his arms all over the place and speaking nineteen to the dozen because he had so much to cram in to the allotted time. His delivery was measured and calm and he looked as though he was genuinely enjoying listening to his guests.

I've just looked up his profile which is very interesting.  He is not an 'Expert' and maybe this is why he was so good to watch - he was genuinely taking us with him on his journey of discovery.

Kipling's "Kim" was a set book for 'O' Levels (that dates me!) and I remember it being more of a chore than a joyful read.  Will have to revisit it and I'm sure, what with my recent Indian Adventure and now knowing more about Kipling, I will enjoy it enormously.
