Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

THE REAL MARIGOLD HOTEL - and my very dark glasses!

Date: 27th January 2016

Normally I would never wear sunglasses and certainly not dark dark ones when filming.  However a few days before the end of our sojourn in Jaipur, I got up to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night.  I think there must have been one of the many power cuts because my bedside light didn't work.

When I returned to bed I thought I'd got in on the left hand side (where I always sleep).  Unknowingly I was right on the edge of the right side.  Turning over in the night I clocked my right temple on the marble corner of the bedside table.  I'm not sure if it temporarily knocked me out but it hurt like hell and a large lump came up very quickly - alarmingly quickly.  However, I took some pain killers and eventually went back to sleep.

Next morning the bump was still quite large and was beginning to discolour but by the evening it had spread to my eye.  On the penultimate day we had a Stills photographer with us.  My eye was a sight and even though Patti kindly applied some heavy makeup, there was nothing for it but to wear dark glasses for the 'shoot'.

I think I'll put a photo into the Gallery for you to see what a shiner I had.  It took weeks to disappear and I looked as though I'd gone two rounds with Muhammed Ali in the boxing ring!  This is the photo which the Production company have Tweeted so I hope they don't mind me borrowing it.  I took 1,500 photos whilst in India but obviously couldn't take photos of myself (I don't do 'selfies')
