Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 26th January 2016

Busy preparing a curry for some friends who are coming round this evening to 'hold my hand' when the first episode transmits.

My father (born in India) and his wife used to make the most delicious curries doing everything from scratch and it put me off going to Indian Restaurants.  Once you've got all the diffferent spices, making curries is not difficult and there are so many different ones.

I shall be laying the table with mementoes from India - many of which were given by my father.  But I shall not be wearing my beautiful saree as, despite Patti videoing our lovely hostess Sushma dressing me, I can't follow the steps and came out looking like a sack covered in material.

However I would like to point you to something on the Internet.  I don't know how long it is up there but I am pleased that (apart from spelling practice the American way which I did not!) the article has been printed just as I wrote it when I answered the questions.  In an interview situation so many mistakes can and do occur - partly I think because today when the interviewer just turns on a machine, they conduct a conversation without any real structure and end up with too much information which I don't think they listen to properly and then you get the mistakes, and much taken out of the context in which you spoke the words.  They've printed a photo taken on the penultimate day of our sojourn - great shame the photographer cut off the head of the Peacock - it was stunning. As an amateur photographer I wouldn't have placed a person in front of such a colourful and busy background - where do you look?

Although I won't be wearing my saree tonight, this is a photo taken after Sushma 'dressed me'.

Hoping you enjoy The Real Marigold Hotel on BBC 2 at 9.00 pm tonight - 26th January
