Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

APOLOGIES

APOLOGIES FOR LACK OF BLOGS

To those kind people who read – and sometimes look forward to my Blogs – I apologise for the lack of them recently. It has been a combination of feeling down over my little cat and also a feeling of uselessness over so much which is going on in the world today. I desperately want to comment and share my views – which I know are shared by many – but I hesitate because we no longer truly have ‘freedom of speech’ in our own country. About the only place in which one can voice opinion is with friends in the privacy of one’s own home. I will say one thing though – I find it totally unacceptable that we are prevented from voicing opinions on certain subjects and yet those who would murder us and preach hatred have to be protected by the very police force which is paid for by our taxes. And as for ‘Human Rights’ – has no one ever told the masses that with ‘Rights’ goes ‘Responsibility’ – which in so many elements of society today is sadly lacking. But then we have a very Left Leaning Legislature.

We were not supposed to voice opinion on the Multiculturalism inflicted on us by Blair’s Labour Government. This has been proven not to work. People will integrate, like and accept others of a different culture if they respect and like them. You cannot legislate to make people ‘like and accept each other’ – that has to be an act of ‘free will’. I did read somewhere that the Labour Party instigated Multiculturalism in an effort to gather more voters – could be!!

And the other thing which maddens so many of us is “Londoncentricity”. London is most definitely ‘not representative’ of the country at large and perhaps the politicians should climb out of their ‘London Bubble’ and see how the rest of us live. I am no politician but to my way of thinking ‘Big is not Beautiful’ and the whole of England should not be governed by the bureaucrats in London. I believe Regional Accountability would make much more sense where the people ‘on the ground’ understand the needs of their particular region.

And as for Jeremy Corbyn - Heaven help us if he ever gets elected.  So he wanted to see Jihadi John brought to trial.  Firstly, how on earth was he supposed to be spirited out of the country.  Secondly, had he been, we would have had the invocation of 'his human rights' and he would have become a centre for dissent - rather like the IRA prisoners who became 'martyrs to a cause'.  And just think of the cost of security in keeping him in prison.  I'm afraid I have always believed that the Death Sentence should be carried out for Acts of Treason, Terrorism and premeditated Murder.  And every time there is a poll the percentage in favour is high but the politicians ignore the will of the people as they do so very often.  I don't know why we think we live in a democracy - we actually live in a kind of Benign Dictatorship.  Politicians are supposed to be our 'servants' but too often they ignore totally the wishes of the public and do their own thing.

I shall end by quoting - possibly incorrectly - FOR EVIL TO PROSPER, ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS THAT GOOD MEN STAY SILENT.  I'm sorry but I do feel that so much which is 'done in our name' is actually done at the behest of the Vociferous Minority and not the Silent Majority.
