Shoreham Airshow 2007
Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

Date: 27th October 2015

Yesterday I forced myself to go for a long walk on the Beach.  It was either that or lying on the sofa consumed by memories and grief.

I haven't walked on the shingle beach for months.  About 3 years ago I found a large lump of Amber much to my astonishment.  I know that amber can sometimes be washed up with the Spring tides a lot further down the coast but to find a lump among the millions of pebbles was almost miraculous.  When Amber is washed up it is sometimes almost unrecognisable with a coating of what looks like greyish scum but my piece had none of that and was immediately identifiable as Amber.  Needless to say I have looked since then and never found another piece until Yesterday.

I didn't take my Ipod - just wanted to think about the last year and all the losses.  I stopped to look at the horizon and thought about Tamby and  at my feet and there was a piece of Amber - albeit a very small piece but Amber none the less.  Was it a sign from Tamby - scoff if you wish but I like to think it was.
