Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

THE ITV LEADERS' DEBATE

Date: 4th April 2015

 THE ITV LEADERS’ DEBATE

I steeled myself to watch the programme on ITV and managed an hour!!  After that time I'd had enough and couldn't take another second of Nicola Sturgeon - or the endless rounds of what we have all heard before.  Ms. Sturgeon only cares about the Scots and to hell with everyone else.  They wanted devolution and narrowly missed getting it so why should Scottish MP's have a vote in an English Parliament especially when it could have such a huge effect on the future of this country.

After that one hour  I just wanted to scream one question at the lot of them  ‘Where are you going to find the money to ring-fence the NHS, Welfare and all the other Sacred Cows? Five years ago, this country was on the verge of bankruptcy and to my simple mind, much of this was to do with the Labour Government and its usual stance of giving away money left right and centre. But where does that money come from - out of the pockets of those who work and pay tax.  And much as we may not like their ability to utilize Tax Avoidance schemes, if we make it too hard for the rich, they will upsticks and move elsewhere - taking their tax revenue with them.

I wonder if there really are so many people who believe the lofty promises of Politicians yet don’t ask where the money is coming from. Do they actually believe that successive Governments have a room stacked with bullion that they won’t spend or even a Money Tree or trees growing in the garden of No. 10 which they are too mean to shake.
