Me looking brave before taking to the air (and the wing) of the plane. Wow, it was cold !! But the whole experience was totally exhilarating.

Jan's Blog

Computers and the internet are amazing things. One of my concerns with putting together this site was that it could remain current, yet with all my travelling I've often much to say, but little time to say it. Years ago when reading the news it would take me days on end to reply to the kind letters people sent. Now, with the magic of the modern age, I can keep you up to date with what I'm doing and other events in my life.

FEEDBACK

Hallo All.  Well I ask for feedback and I got a very good suggestion from Phil who has written to me before.  This is the substance of what he suggested.

I have an idea for your blog.

What if you were to get your Stuart to set up a contents or index page?  Why?  Because your blogs are increasing in number and it is becoming increasingly harder to find the right one if you wish to re-read a certain one of interest.  The months are just not informative enough!

I would suggest perhaps at least something simple like a new page with blog titles and month/year on it, but better yet would be a similar set up but with two or three lines of a blog and then the words 'readmore', which, if clicked upon, would open that blog right up.  Just like you have for the latest blogs but applied to all of them.

For example: -

Rome 27th Aug 2008

The long weekend in Rome was superb.  Having never been there before, the sights exceeded my expectations - and that's always so much better than the other way around.  I remember how far short of expectations fell Venice when I visited some 10 years ago... read more

However, the blog suggestion is genuine I hope that it is found useful and that it will be implemented if at all possible.  I know that Stuart would have a lot of work to do, but on the plus side it would make searching easier for everybody.

Meanwhile please continue with your writings and I hope that you are now fully recovered from whatever and enjoying life to the full again.  Looking forward to many more reads.

...................................................

I have contacted the lovely Stuart and what Phil suggests can be done but it does involve cost.  I am quite happy to go down this path but must know if it is really worthwhile - I do sometimes get the feeling that I'm talking in to a brick wall although the analysis which comes through every Monday tells me a different story.

So please email me and let me know if you would like me to go down this route.

My article on Rene Mouchotte still had not been printed by the Daily Mail who commissioned it almost three weeks ago.  I'll give them another few days and failing that, I'll post it on the Website.  I didn't do all that work for nothing and I so want to share 'my pilot' with you.

Sorry I've not posted anything new this week but have been up to my eyes in sorting out.  I had to sell my lovely flat in Capetown and my 'stuff' has now been delivered to my flat.  Although I left most behind, it's amazing how much I accumulated over 7 years and things I really couldn't leave behind.  Mind you I was very cross at having to pay VAT on my belongings - I'd already paid South African Vat on the varied clothes, shoes, books, prints and bits of memorabilia - all well used.  Still it's always the honest and the middle classes who get caught for taxes - the rich 'evade' tax and the poor don't pay it.  Oh dear - here I go again GOW (Grumpy Old Woman).

I'm not really - I enjoy life and have never grown up.  A journalist friend called me "Polyanna" and I think I like that.

Once I have crammed all my 'stuff' away into drawers and under the bed, I'll settle to catching up on the Blogs I've promised you.

Bye for now.  Jan
